Five Time TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice Award Winner!
From the streetside of this quiet dead-end cul de sac in Natchez, it might be easy to miss Oak Hill which was built in 1835 but, that would be a huge mistake! The home is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and described as a, “One and one-half story, five-bay frame residence with gabled roof, undercut gallery and frame outbuilding. Greek Revival. W. W. Wilkins Builder 1835.”
What this description does not reveal is the sweeping center hall, the high ceilings, expansive rooms, Zuber Wallpaper, Waterford Crystal chandeliers, original 1830’s locks, intact millwork, period antiques and so much more. Oak Hill was the recipient of the 2005 Restoration Award and has received the TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Award for five consecutive years! It is one of the best bed and breakfasts in the world!
Once you arrive, you will be greeted personally by the owners with homemade chocolate chip cookies, mint juleps and sweet tea. In the style of true Southern Hospitality, you will arrive a guest and leave as family. You will find plenty of help and advice on how to spend your time in and around this charming city and recommendations on dining that suits your taste! Enjoy a nightcap and retire to a comfortable bed. While great care has been taken to insure that Oak Hill is historically intact, equal care was given to providing for the comfort of all who visit.
Speaking of breakfast, try out cheese crepes with warm berry compote, eggs benedict, bread pudding souffle or another of the delicious breakfasts that are served on period china in the formal dining room daily. Sip your orange juice from Waterford Crystal and meander out to the stunning gardens to savor your morning coffee.
The gardens are a masterpiece in their own right. The soft scents of Jasmine, Gardenias and Sweet Olive gently dance through the air while the sound of the fountain tinkling into the pond delights your ears. It is impossible to not relax on the back veranda enjoying the lush luxury of an immaculately tended garden. Take a stroll through the gardens to fully savor the experience and to stumble upon treasures such as the extensive collection of colorful water lilies that thrive under the tender care they receive.
A stay at Oak Hill will make you believe that you’ve stepped back in time to the ways of the Old South where elegance and luxury reigned, where meals were a work of art and to be savored and, where hospitality reigned supreme.
