Explore Biloxi's History through graveside re-enactments during this continuous, self guded tour. Attendees may arrive anytime and witness all ten re-enactments with 15 characters. This year’s theme, Biloxi Praise, features those who made great contributions to seven historic church congregations.
Walking entrances to the tour can be accessed from either the Highway 90 gate or from Irish Hill. Parking at the adjacent Elks Lodge is highly encouraged. Refreshments will be provided.
The multi-award winning tour endeavors to breathe life into Biloxi’s past and the roles these historic churches played. Historic congregations set for portrayal include: Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Seashore United Methodist Assembly, Congregation Beth Israel, First Baptist Church of Biloxi, Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Fist Missionary Baptist Church, and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Those to be portrayed during the 2018 self-guided tour are those individuals who made great contributions to some of Biloxi’s most notably historic churches: Nativity BVM- Father Alphonse Ketels, Elbert Dukate Sr. and Jr., Mabel Dalzell, Frances Tedesco Hunt; Congregation Beth Israel- Earl and Rosa Friedman; Seashore United Methodist Assembly- Alice Smith and Rev. Henry Van Hook; First Baptist Church of Biloxi-Maude Mae Floyd Carter; Episcopal Church of the Redeemer-Captain James Maycock and Julia Guice; First Missionary Baptist Church-Fannie Nichols; Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox-Leonidas Demetrakopoulos and Nike John Demetrakopoulos.
